Meet Major Joanne Wardle - our brand new Territorial Youth Secretary! We're stoked to have Jo on board and are excited to see what's in store for this year and beyond! Jo is a super passionate, enthusiastic, empowering and funny woman of God, who looks just like Terri Irwin (G'day maaate!), is a power lift master and who 'doesn't mind slumming it'.
We thought it would be cool for you to meet Jo and get to know her a little so check out our chat with her below...
How long have you been an officer and what types of roles have you been in?
I'm 18 years old (as an Officer) and I have roamed around Aotearoa covering Corps appointments, Booth College of Mission and Territorial Children's Secretary. I have had 2 stints in Fiji (Youth and Leadership Development/School for Officer Training)
What do you like to get up to in your spare time?
I love bush walks, hill walks, beach walks, even walking up stairs. And I walk fast. Real fast.
Tell us a bit about your family:
I am married to Ross Wardle who works in Archives at Booth College of Mission.
What’s your favourite food and why?
I like to experience foods from other countries because I am interested in other cultures. Yeah, I will give anything a go...
What is your favourite quote:
Be the change you want to see.
If you had to jump, dance or skip everywhere for the rest of your life, which would you choose?
Definitely dance as it would be fun grooving around everywhere and trying out new moves.
What nicknames are acceptable while you’re TYS?
Aunty Jo, Terri Irwin.
What’s your favourite Bible verse?
My all time fave verse is my calling into officership verse: "You did not choose me, I chose you and sent you out to produce fruit, the kind of fruit that will last." John 15:16
What are you most looking forward to about your new role?
Seeing young people released into their giftings and passions in the local corps and community. To see them making a difference in the world, and being part of empowering them to do so. Bring it on!!
