The NZFTS territory's youth team has a pretty impressive line-up. All these cats do an amazing job with all things youth related - running programmes and events, looking after youth in their corner of the territory and pretending to be young themselves.

Check them out and get to know them a little better below. You could even print out their pictures and make collectable cards... Do it!

Mat is married to Jules and, as Salvation Army officers, they have served in a range of appointments. Mat returns to the best team in the territory having previously been the Divisional Youth Secretary in Northern Division, and now back at it again! Mat is an all round good guy with a great beard. Leslie Team

Leslie D'MelloAdministrator

Leslie is the only person on THQ that knows what’s going on, and what he doesn't know he makes up. Without him, the youth department is like a confused huddle of penguins on a drifting iceburg. He's a bit of a cheeky bloke but is the kind of guy you want on your quiz team.

Scott Team

Scott KeaneYouth Web and Resource Manager

Scott is the newest and most attractive member of the Youth Department and looks after the Firezone website and all things social media. He also shares a birthday with Jackie Chan!

Jules Team

Captain Jules Badger - Assistant Youth Secretary

Jules loves M&Ms and middle-aged men with beards (preferably ones called Mat Badger). As Mat has a fancy dual role this year, he needs an amazing assistant at Northern DHQ, and there is no one more qualified than Jules. Mat and Jules have two teenagers of their own, who take up the rest of Jules' time, especially this year as they are both learning to drive. Jules has been a DYS before, loves being a youth small group leader, and finds it hard to choose between Ed Sheeran and James Arthur.

Major Robert CopeDivisional Youth and Candidates Secretary

Rob is married to Julie and together they have three sons, Philip (married to Lavinia), Christopher (married to Aimee) and Andrew, and a daughter Hadassah AND, I know he doesn't look old enough, but two grand-daughters Gabriella and Madeleine (to Chris and Aimee). He is the oldest DYS in the territory (maybe history) but still loves working with young people and seeing them reach their full potential.

What's what & who's who?

The Salvation Army New Zealand, Fiji, Tonga and Samoa Territory is made up of five divisions and two regions.

A 'division' refers to the group of corps (churches) and centres within a geographical area and simply helps organise the bigger structure.

Our five divisions are: Northern (upper North Island), Midland (middle North Island), Central (lower North Island), Southern (South Island) and Fiji (all Fiji islands). Tonga and Samoa are included as a 'regions', as they are slightly smaller.

Each division has an Officer who oversees all the youth work in that area. These cats are called Divisional Youth Secetaries and they do a whole heap of great work. We also have a Territorial Youth Secretary and team who oversee the big picture stuff relating to Territorial youth ministry.
